metalographer, talented artisan
Ray K. Forney, 85, of New Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at home.
He was the husband of the late Louise P. Sowers who passed away in November of 2013. Born in Lititz, he was the son of the late Raymond and Ella Keath Forney. Ray was a metalographer for most of his career, with Martin Nuclear, Baltimore, then with Hamilton Watch, Lancaster. A United States Marine Corps veteran, Ray served as Sgt in the 2nd Marine Division Band from 1948-1952 at Camp Lejeune. Ray was a talented artisan woodsmith and his interests also included viniculture and opera.
From his first wife, he is survived by his seven children: Steven, David, Susan, Paul, Mary, Peter and Lynda. He is also survived by his brother: Cletus, his sister: Elizabeth; 26 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
