Roy and Lorraine G. Kline
After a 65-year loving marriage, Roy Kline, Jr., 86, along with his wife, Lorraine G. (Lawrence) Kline, 85, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 as a result of an automobile accident.
They were the parents of Debra A. Kline-Smith, musical director at Warwick.
Roy, born Aug. 22, 1927 in Hanover, was the son of the late Roy Sr. and Beatrice (Spangler) Kline. He was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Hanover. After graduating from Eichelberger Senior High School in 1943, he entered into the U.S. Navy and proudly served in World War II. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a machinist for the Hanover Wire Cloth. His interest in insurance grew and became an agent but quickly became a manager for the Washington National Insurance Company for the next 30 years. He also served as a motivational speaker. Being actively engaged in his career, he coordinated many sales conferences and held offices with the Life Underwriters Association. After his retirement from Washington National Insurance Company he worked for Lawrence Subaru for the next 29 years completing several tasks.
Lorraine, born May 4, 1928 in McSherrystown, was the daughter of the late Richard and Thelma (Barbour) Lawrence. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover. As a homemaker, her life was devoted to Roy, raising her children, and spending time with family and loved ones. She continued to love and support her family especially her grandchildren as they grew.
Roy and Lorraine are survived by two children: Jeffery R. Kline and wife, Diane E. of Hanover and Debra A. Kline-Smith and husband, Michael R. Smith of Lititz; two grandchildren: Kirsten R. Wentz and husband, Gregory S. and Justin R. Kline and wife, Courtney R.; one grandcat: Chardonnay and one granddog: Moji. Lorraine is also survived by two brothers: Laverne Lawrence of Abbottstown and Gary Lawrence of Mechanicsburg.
Roy was preceded in death by one brother: George Kline and sister: Josephine Kline. Lorraine was preceded in death by three sisters: Etheline Groft, Frances Livelsberger, and Janet Hagerman.
A funeral was held Jan. 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. James E. Lyons and Rev. Bruce P. Bouchard officiating. Roy and Lorraine will be laid to rest at the Marburg Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of both Roy and Lorraine may be made to the family towards the installation of a granite bench at Marburg Memorial Gardens in honor of their lives together.
