Merwyn G. Musser 73, Eve Environmental Cleaning, enjoyed camping

Merwyn G. Musser, 73, of Lititz, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy.

He was born in Lancaster and was the husband of the late Bonnie (Good) Musser, whom passed away December 2011.

Merwyn enjoyed camping. During his working years, he was previously employed by Berkely Paint of Akron and Bethlehem Steel. Merwyn was last employed by Eve Environmental Cleaning Service before retiring.

Merwyn is survived by a sister-in-law: Connie Weaver of Lititz.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Sanford S. Robinholt 83, U.S. Air Force, local bus driver

Sanford S. Robinholt, 83, of Leola, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Hamilton Arms Center in Lancaster.

He was the husband of Janice A. (Riley) Robinholt and son of the late Henry R. and Elizabeth A. (Shistle) Robinholt.

Sanford was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leola.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1972 and was a life member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He was also a member of Cocalico Post #429 American Legion.

After leaving the military, Sanford worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Lancaster until 1986. He was most recently employed as a school bus driver in the Conestoga Valley School District until retiring in 1996.

Sanford was a member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge #43 F&AM and Scottish Rite Valley of Harrisburg Consistory.

In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by a step son: Kenneth Zanderfecht of Pueblo, Colo.; four step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-granddaughter, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of Paul L. Gravenor Home For Funerals, Ephrata.

Geraldine R. Vernau 81, Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and Luther Acres volunteer

Geraldine R. Vernau, 81, of Lititz, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Luther Acres Retirement Community.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Minnie (Graf) Stoner. Gerry was the wife of George E. Vernau with whom she celebrated 60 1/2 years of love.

Gerry retired after working 25 years in the food service and transportation department for Lancaster School District. She was an active member and volunteer at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and also volunteered for the past 10 years at Luther Acres. She and George enjoyed traveling and going on Senior Shepherd bus trips. Gerry and her husband took care of directing back yard picnics for over 30 years at their former neighborhood of Jamaica and Ranck Mill Roads. She liked doing counted cross-stitch, but loved and adored her priority of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband, George, are her children: G. Douglas Vernau of Mountville; Denise V. Troupe, wife of Harold, of Lititz; and Debra V. Rye, wife of Elwood, of Lancaster; seven grandchildren: Stephanie; Jennifer; Michael; Kristen; Kyle; Justin and Amy; three great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kendall and Harper; a future great-granddaughter: Sarah Ruth; and a sister: Shirley Wenger, wife of Robert, of Lancaster.

A celebration of life service was held April 9 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Rev. Mark L. Russell officiating. Harold William Wert 87, Lititz resident, Horst Group, enjoyed the outdoors

Harold William Wert, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Landis Homes, Lititz.

He was the loving husband of Mary F. Hepner Wert of Lititz for over 66 years. Born and raised in McAlisterville, he was the son of the late Michael W. and Alma G. Lauver Wert.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife: Mary; and his children: Jeanne M. Witmer, East Petersburg; Janice E., wife of Ernest Miller, Elizabethtown; H. Thomas Wert, husband of Grace, Manheim; Stephen L. Wert, husband of Kathy, Mount Joy; and John D. Stahl-Wert, husband of Milonica, Pittsburgh; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Orpha, wife of J. Lloyd Gingrich, Richfield; Alene Yoder, Greenwood, Del.; Gladys, wife of Jesse Yoder, Dover, Del.; Freda Zehr, Greenwood, Del.; Alma Jean, wife of Harvey Yoder, Harrisonburg, Va.; J. Lloyd Wert, husband of Beverly, Gap; and Ruth Ann, wife of Allan Shirk, Neffsville. Preceding him in death is a son-in-law: Dale E. Witmer.

In 1943, Harold graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School, Harrisonburg, Va. Following their marriage, he and Mary moved to Lancaster. Harold was employed many years as a milkman for the former Queen Dairy, Lancaster. He then owned and operated a franchise of Archway Cookies and later worked for Horst Group in construction until his retirement.

Harold loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and spending time in the mountains. He was part owner of "Bushy Bungalow" cabin in Galeton, taking his family on wonderful vacations and going hunting there. He later enjoyed building a log cabin with a friend in Richfield and spent many weekends there with his family and friends. These weekends always included his preparation and serving of his famous chicken barbecue.

Harold was a master craftsman in all areas of his life. He built furniture, re-tiled bathrooms, laid carpets, put on new roofs and did all engine and body work possible on his cars. He loved working with his hands and any job that needed doing he accomplished well.

He loved singing and music. He was a member at Erisman Mennonite Church, Manheim and participated as a song leader there and in other churches throughout his life.

Relatives and friends attended his funeral service April 8 at the Erisman Mennonite Church, Manheim. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery.

Paul R. White United Zion resident, Fire department member

Paul R. White, formerly of East Petersburg passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz.Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ira M. Sr. and Mary Martin White. He was the loving husband of the late Ruth Ebersole White who died in 2007. Paul worked at the former Hoffman Seed Company, Landisville and Hodecker Celery Farm, Manheim. Earlier in life, he enjoyed farming. He was a member of Erisman Mennonite Church, Manheim. Paul was also a member of Hempfield Fire Department, East Petersburg Fire Department and Fire Police.

Surviving is a daughter: Ann L. White of Lititz; three brothers: Clair White of Lancaster; Clyde White of East Petersburg; and Glen White of Columbia; four sisters: Arlene White of Wyoming; Mary Jane Grube of Lancaster; Doris Deck of Silver Spring; and Janet Bell of Columbia. He was preceded in death by two infant sons; two brothers: Ira White Jr. and Kenneth White and a sister: Dorothy White.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service at Erisman Mennonite Church, 8 South Erisman Road, Manheim April 11, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will be private at Masonville Mennonite Cemetery, Washington Boro. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Frances W. Ashby 95, Lititz resident, Moyer’s Sewing Factory

Frances W. Ashby, 95, of Lititz, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013.

She was the loving wife of the late James E. Ashby who passed away Feb. 27, 2013. Born in Little Britain Township, she was the daughter of the late Aaron S. and Lacy B. Myers Wimer.

Mrs. Ashby was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Lancaster and later First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg. In her earlier years, she was employed by garment factories in the Quarryville and Georgetown area. Later she worked for Moyer’s Sewing Factory and Logan’s Dress Shop in alterations and at Park City.

Surviving her are two loving daughters: Debra A., wife of LeRoy H. Welk of Quarryville; Kathy L., wife of John G. Fetter of East Petersburg; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She is the last of her immediate family.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 South Decatur St., Strasburg, April 17 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Robert K. Bronkema officiating. An informal visitation will be held immediately following the service in fellowship hall. A traditional interment will be held privately at Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy L. Connolly Luther Acres resident, worked at Wellesley College

Dorothy L. Connolly, a resident of Luther Acres, Lititz, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 after a brief illness.

Born in New Britain, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sarah (Butler) Leist. Dorothy was married to the late Gerard H. Connolly for 61 years. She and her husband lived in Maplewood N.J., Newton Mass., Albany N.Y., Wellesley Mass. and retired to Pocasset, Mass. before moving to Lancaster in 1994. Her brother was the late F. Paul Leist of West Newton, Mass.

Surviving are two children: Susan C. Eckert (Gerald) of Lancaster and Peter B. Connolly (Colleen) of Albany, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Courtney C. Weisberg (Jack) of Albany, N.Y.; Andrew C. Eckert (Ashlee) of Havertown; Ashley L. Connolly of Atlanta, Ga.; and Timothy E. Eckert of Lancaster; and one great grandson, Noah H. Weisberg of Albany, N.Y.

Dorothy graduated from Columbia Hish School in Maplewood, N.J. and Katherine Gibbs School.

Dorothy worked for Raytheon as an executive assistant. Later in her career, she worked at Wellesley College in financial aid and the Office of the Dean of the College. Dorothy retired from Zayre Corporation where she was an executive assistant in the office of the CEO.

An avid card player, she enjoyed bridge and other card games. Her passion was reading. She instilled her love of books in her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Luther Acres, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, April 22 at 10 a.m. in the Community Room next to the Chapel with the Rev. E. Walter Cleckley officiating. Private Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

Esther Elizabeth Crouse 90, active in church, radio ministries

Esther Elizabeth Martin Lausch Crouse, 90, of Akron, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at United Zion Retirement Home, Lititz.

She was born on a farm near Hahnstown to the late Rev. Wesley P. and Mamie C. (Zwally) Martin and was the wife of the late Peter R. Lausch Jr., who passed away in 1974 and Harold I. Crouse, who passed away in 2001. She was named after Aunt Esther Matilda Zwally Demmy and Aunt Elizabeth Martin Espenshade.

Esther was a member of the Akron United Zion Church where she was a very active member, organist, pianist, choir director, Sunday school teacher, church board member, and treasurer. She attended Akron School for 10 years and graduated from Messiah Bible Academy, Grantham, in 1940. During her working years, she worked as an LPN at the Graystone Hospital in Morris Plains, N.J. and later she worked for Chet Long Real Estate in Akron. Esther co-wrote and co-directed the 100th anniversary church drama "Onward to Zion." She and her father also directed the "Tidings of Joy" radio ministry for 16 years. She was also served the community as a 4-H club sewing leader for 16 years as well as a Community Bible school teacher.

She is survived by her children: Dale R. Lausch of Leola; Kathleen A., wife of Thomas Wiedman of Lititz; Dean W., husband of Sandra (Cregger) Lausch of Lancaster; Marilyn K. Shafer of Ephrata; Dorcas L., wife of P.K. Goel of Davidsonville, Md.; a step daughter: Margaret Grissinger of Mt. Joy; 10 grandchildren: Wendi, Matthew, Lisa, Neil, Rebecca, Wesley, Adam, Jenna, Megan and Peter; seven great-grandchildren: Jake, Julia, Cody, Madison, Lily, Logan and Tre; and two step-grandchildren: Jerry and Keith.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Elaine J. Barker.

A viewing was held April 11 at the Stradling Funeral Home, Akron. An additional viewing was held April 12 at the Fellowship Center beside the Akron United Zion Church, followed by her funeral service with Rev. Kenneth Redcay officiating. Interment took place in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery.

Jere H. Glick 82, Air Force vet, Legion baseball champ

Jere H. Glick, 82, of Lititz, passed away peacefully Monday, April 8, 2013 at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz.

Born in Lancaster, he was the husband of Elizabeth E. "Betty" (Gunning) Glick of Lititz, and the son of the late Herbert F. and Mary (Myers) Glick.

He was a member of the 1949 graduating class of McCaskey High School, and was also the pitcher for the St. Joseph Legion Baseball team, winners of the 1949 championship pennant. He played many sports in his younger years, including baseball, softball, and basketball. Jere was an avid sports fan, especially Penn State football, Dallas Cowboys, and the LA Dodgers.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois as a technical instructor. After his military service, he worked at RCA as an electronics technician for 36 years.

Jere loved his family dearly and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife of almost 60 years, he is survived by two daughters: Patti Lehman and her husband Harry III of Conestoga; and Debra Rothermel and her husband Alan of Lititz; a son: Jere T. Glick and his wife Cindy of Breinigsville; five beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Ryan, Carrie, Ashley, and Caitlyn; and a brother: Terry Glick and his wife Josephine "Jo" of Lititz.

Memorial services were held at Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, Lititz, with Pastor Jerry Berrier officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Caroline L. Hess 93, RN at Audubon, church pianist

Caroline L. Hess, 93, formerly of Lititz, passed away at Bob Fryer and Family Hospice Inpatient Center, Mount Joy Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Born in Terre Hill, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Hazel McManee Fry. She was married to the late James B. Hess who died in 1991. She is survived by a son: J. Craig (Nancy Ruhl) Hess, Lititz; three grandchildren: Carolyn Stauffer; Jon Hess; and Jim Hess; seven great grandchildren; and a brother: Eugene Fry, Strasburg. Caroline was preceded in death by two sons: Brian E. and James Douglas Hess.

She was a graduate of Manheim Township High School and Lancaster School of Nursing. Caroline was a registered nurse working for Dr. Franklin Cassel and also at Audubon Villa, Lititz. She was an active member of the former First Church of God, Lititz where she played piano. Caroline enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, taking bus trips and most of all she loved her family

Caroline’s life celebration service was held at Spacht Funeral Home, Lititz April 12. Interment was in Brownstown Evangelical Cemetery, West Earl Township.

Joelene M. Kroeck 58, Luther Acres nurses aide

Joelene M. (Berkenstock) Kroeck, 58, of Lititz, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Hershey Medical Center, Dauphin County.

Born in Schaefferstown, she was the wife of John Kroeck of Lititz, and the daughter of the late Lewis and Lillian (Dorney) Berkenstock.

She was employed as a nurse’s aide by Luther Acres, Lititz.

Joelene enjoyed the beach and loved spending time with friends and family.

In addition to her husband of 43 years, she is survived by a son: Keith Kroeck and his wife Kristy of Lititz; a sister: Luette Berkenstock; and a brother: Ralph Berkenstock, both of Lititz.

It was Joelene’s wish that no services be held.

Jason Jennings Milholin 34, office manager at Merv Zimmerman, Inc.

Jason Jennings Milholin, 34, died unexpectedly in his home in Lititz, Monday, April 8, 2013.

Born in San Diego, Calif., Jason moved to Lititz with his father in 1986, and was a member of the Warwick High School class of 1996. Following graduation, he went to work for his uncle at Fullnet, a computer internet service company in Indiana. He returned to Lititz in 2001, where he was employed by Merv Zimmerman, Inc. as a purchasing assistant to his father. Jason’s computer programming and office management skills propelled him to the position of office manager in his 12 years of service there.

Survivors include his father: RJ Milholin of Lititz; his mother: Cathy DuBois and Dr. William DuBois, of Stanwood, Mich.; his stepmother: Valerie Milholin; and his half-brother: Troy Milholin, both of Landisville; paternal grandparents: Clark and Joan Milholin of Holiday, Fla.; maternal grandparents: Ernie and Lenora Challender of Jasper, Ind.; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and a whole family of co-workers at Zimmerman’s.

Jason was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, decorating his home and faithfully cheering his whole life for this losing team. They never did make it to the Super Bowl in Jason’s lifetime, but "Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 15:57). We have confidence in Jason’s victory through God’s saving grace. As a baptized, confirmed, and confessing Christian, he surely rests now in the arms of his Savior.

A viewing was held at Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church on April 13 followed by a funeral service.

Beatrice E. Shaub 99, United Zion resident, United Methodist Women member

Beatrice E. Shaub, 99 of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at United Zion Retirement Community in Lititz.

She was the daughter of the late Harrison B. and Ellen Steinmetz Harmes. Her husband, Edgar A. Shaub died in February of 2003.

Mrs. Shaub worked at Stehli Silk Mills for several years prior to becoming a full time and dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. A long-time member of First United Methodist Church, Lancaster, she was actively involved in Sunday school and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Lancaster Chapter No. 501 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by her daughter: Virginia Mae, wife of Wilmer W. Burkhart of Lititz; two grandsons: Jon David, husband of Melissa Burkhart of Manheim; and Bruce Alan, husband of Kimberly Burkhart of Selinsgrove; four great-grandchildren: Emily, Joshua, Makayla and Bode Burkart; and her sister: Peggy, wife of Donald Kohler of Lancaster.

Relatives and friends attended a funeral service at United Zion Retirement Community April 17 with Chaplain Ethan L. Levengood officiating. Interment was in Riverview Burial Park.

Marilyn A. Weaver 79, Friendship and United Zion nurse

Marilyn A. Weaver, 79, of Lititz, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Married for 56 years, she was the wife of Jay W. Weaver. Born in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Lenwood and Mary Moyer Van Orsdale.

Serving as a dedicated nurse for over 40 years at numerous facilities, including Friendship Community and United Zion Retirement Community, she was loved by her patients from Colorado to Pennsylvania. Marilyn was a devoted member of Grace Church in Lititz, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed volunteering at the Lititz train station, spending time with her family, gardening, band competitions, basketball, and the Phillies.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children: Kevin, husband of Sandy of Sacramento, Calif.; Lori Ann Stahl of Lititz; Jay P., husband of Sarah of Mountville; grandchildren: Tania and Teri of Lititz; Brittany and Shayla of Live Oak, Fla.; great granddaughter: Payden of Lititz; and brother: Lenwood Van Orsdale of Clarks Summit.

Emma Z. Wenger 81, Lititz resident, married 60 years

Emma Z. Wenger, 81, Lititz, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital.

She was born in East Earl to the late Christian and Lydia (Zimmerman) Sensenig and was the wife of Norman Z. Wenger with whom she recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Emma was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons: Lester S., husband of Joyce Wenger of Terre Hill; Mervin S., husband of Elaine Wenger of Womelsdorf; Norman S. Jr., husband of Fern Wenger of New Holland; and James S. Wenger at home; three daughters: Verna S. Wenger of Lititz; Luella S., wife of Galen Martin of Manheim; Edith S., wife of Leon Martin of Lebanon; 34 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; two sisters: Verna Zimmerman of New Holland; and Mabel, wife of Raymond Weaver of East Earl; sister-in-law: Lydia Sensenig of Terre Hill; and a brother-in-law: Lester Martin of New Holland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter: Irene S. Wenger; a sister: Frances Martin; and a brother: Amos Sensenig.

Funeral services were April 12 at the Farmcrest Chapel with further services at the Groffdale Mennonite Church Weaverland Conference with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

enjoyed hunting

Jack R. Hevener, 84, of Lititz, passed away April 19 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Durbin W. Va., he was the son of the late Robert and Lucy Gragg Hevener, and is married for 61 years to M. Elizabeth Eshelman Hevener of Lititz. He was a former member of the Lititz Church of the Brethren.

Jack worked at Wilbur Chocolate in the shipping department and machine shop prior to his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed hunting with his brothers and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by a son: Barry D. Hevener and his companion, Lisa Friday of Lititz; grandchildren: Jessica, married to Matt Reinhart; and Benjamin Hevener; great grandsons: Samuel and Eric; and sisters: Nora Ginder, Lititz; and Genevieve Jealouse of Marysville, Wash. Jack was preceded in death by brothers: Rev. Ollie, Sterling, Bert, Robert, Donald, William, and a sister: Mabel Davidson.

Funeral Services were held at the Richard H. Heisey Funeral Home, Lititz, April 23. Burial was in Longenecker Brethren Cemetery, Lititz. Evangelia "Angela" P. Keares, 84, died at her Lititz home Sunday, April 21, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of the late Petros H. Keares, who died in 1990. Born in Kos, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Margarita Gerantonis.

Angela was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a member of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, the Philoptohos Society and the Pan-Coan Society of Hippocrates.

Surviving are five sons: Harry P. Keares, husband of Irene of Lancaster; Steven P. Keares, husband of Catina of Downingtown; Nicholas P. Keares, husband of Cindy of Lancaster; John P. Keares, husband of Katerina of Lancaster; and The Rev. Costas P. Keares, husband of Nicole of Strongsville, Ohio; two daughters: Christine, wife of Thomas Hatzivasilis of Lititz; and Eleni, wife of Constantine (Gus) Kourgelis of Lititz, with whom Angela lived; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her brother: Kostas Gerantonis, husband of Despina of Australia.

Funeral Services were held April 24 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Alexander Goussetis, Rev. Alexander Veronis and Rev. Hector Firoglanis officiating. Interment was in Conestoga Memorial Park.

Gloria K. Kofroth, 78, of Lititz, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Manor Care, Lancaster.

She was born in Millport to the late Charles and Lydia (Herr) Keeports and was the wife of Ronald E. Kofroth with whom she shared 59 years of marriage on Sept. 18.

Gloria was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Lititz, where she was a former choir member, Sunday school teacher and trustee. During her working years, she was a receptionist for Armstrong World Industries for 37 years before her retirement in 1990. Gloria was a Girl Scout leader and did reading for the Susquehanna Blind Association.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter: Kathy Troutman of Lititz; a granddaughter: Jennifer, wife of Joseph Zoccolo; and great-grandchildren: Zachary, Dylan and Breanne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son: Gerald Kofroth.

A viewing will be held April 24, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 N. Ninth Street, Akron. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 25, at 1 p.m. at the Stradling Funeral Home, with Pastor David Unangst officiating. Interment will take place in the Millport Cemetery.

Gerald R. "Jerry" McCreary, 77, of Lititz, passed away April 15, 2013 at Ephrata Community Hospital.

Married for 51 years, he is the husband of Janice Bennethum McCreary and was preceded in death by his mother, Esther McCreary.

He graduated in 1953 from Lititz High School and served in the U.S. Army. Jerry worked for 30 years as a printing salesman at Wagaman Printing, Intelligencer Printing, and Acorn Press, where he retired. In retirement, he worked at the Lancaster Courthouse, Manheim Auto Auction and Boyer Motor Company.

Jerry was a member of Manheim Lodge #587 F&AM, and a 32nd degree Mason. He was a former Lititz AMBUCS president and member of V.F.W. Post #1463 of Lititz. He enjoyed Penn State football, vacationing with his family at Long Beach Island, N.J., and playing trivia and card games.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons: Christopher McCreary, Lititz; Col. Gregory McCreary, married to Debbi, Macon, Ga.; daughter: Jennifer Eshleman (Ken), Lititz; granddaughters: Stormy, Kari, and Julia; two great grandsons; an uncle; and several cousins.

Florence G. Oberholtzer, 99, of Manheim, died peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, Manheim.

Born in Rapho Township, she was the daughter of the late Francis B. and Eleanora S. (Good) Earhart. She attended Midway School, and married Nathan B. Oberholtzer in 1931.

In addition to her busy life as wife and mother on the family farm, Florence also worked at Evans Restaurant, Roots Country Market, Noggles & Sons Garment and Shirt Factory, and finally Donegal Industries until she retired in 1975. She was an active member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, where she helped to prepare meals for banquets for many years. She was also a member of the Manheim Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Manheim Farm Women #2, and the Stiegel Roses Senior Citizens Group. Florence enjoyed singing, traveling, camping, cooking, and square dancing.

Florence is survived by all five of her children: Darlene E. Redcay of Lititz; Nathan E. Oberholtzer of Mountville; Joyce E. Hoffer of Mastersonville; Wilbur E. Oberholtzer of Manheim; and Kenneth E. Oberholtzer of Gilbert. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Florence is pre-deceased by her husband: Nathan, and sister: Dorothy E. Hunt.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Ruhl’s United Methodist Cemetery, Rapho Township. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Florence’s memory be sent to Ruhl’s United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 4810 Elizabethtown Road, Manheim, PA 17545, or Mount Hope Nazarene Retirement Community, 3026 Mount Hope Home Road, Manheim, PA 17545.
