Charles F. McCarthy, Jr., known to his friends and family as Chip or Charlie, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the Abington Hospice Care in Warminster after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born May 4, 1958 in Stroudsburg and was the loving son of Ellin McCarthy of Lititz and the late Charles F. McCarthy, Sr.
Chip was a graduate of Warwick High School in Lititz and also served in the U.S. Army. He worked for many years at Durex Coverings as an installer of flooring systems. Most recently, Charlie was a sheet metal worker for Interstate Panel of Trenton, N.J.
Chip enjoyed sports and loved to work with his hands to build or fix almost anything. Chip was well known to friends and family as an always welcome participant in any home "fix-it" project.
He is survived by two children: Charles (Chase) F. McCarthy, III of Pittsburgh and Cara McCarthy of Ephrata. He was formerly married to Tamara Weiler Ruckel. He is also survived by three brothers: Timothy McCarthy of Exton and Thomas James (TJ) McCarthy and Matthew McCarthy, both residing in Lititz.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 15 at St. Ephrem Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Road Bensalem, Pa 19020, where friends and family may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
