94, WWII vet, E.I. Du Pont retiree,

owner of Jersey Journeys

John Rolfe, 94, of Lititz, entered into rest Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 at Luther Acres Manor.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harold John and Edith Dorothy (Sanford) Rolfe. John was the husband of Virginia Sechrist Rolfe. They were married Feb. 20, 1943.

John was a Lutheran and attended services in recent years at Luther acres in Lititz. He served in the Navy during World War II, stationed in Washington, D.C. He was employed by E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company as a marketing representative until his retirement at age 53. In his retirement years, John started his own business, Jersey Journeys, and for 21 years escorted clients all over the world by bus, airplane and cruise ship.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by three sons: John L., husband of Randall Colton Rolfe of West Chester; Jeffrey S., husband of Nancy Roberts Rolfe of Downingtown and William D. Rolfe, companion of Margery Pruessner of Longmont, Colo.; a daughter: Susan V., wife of Caleb H. Minnich of Lititz; a sister: Elizabeth Dreher of Downey, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sisters: Mary and Hope Rolfe and his brother: William R. Rolfe.

Relatives and friends attended John’s life celebration memorial service from Luther Acres, Chapel of the Good Samaritan, Lititz, Jan. 4 with Rev. E. Walter Cleckley, Jr. officiating.
