Yerger Bros. employee

Curtis E. Zeller, 85, of Lititz, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his residence.

Born in Shaefferstown, he was the son of the late Alvin K. and Naomi Keener Zeller. Curtis was married to the late Anna R. Miley Zeller who died in 2010. He is survived by his children: Jack Zeller, Jean Ann (Stephen) Brandt and Jeanette Zeller; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Harry Zeller and Robert Zeller; five sisters: Bernice Dodd, Ruth Ford, Betty Light, Sylvia Hoffman and Joan Mouser. He was preceded in death by a brother: Warren Zeller and a sister: Anna Mae Wolf.

Curtis was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. Curtis worked in shipping and receiving at the former Yerger Bros., Lititz. He loved his beagle, Sam.

and devoted grandmother

Marian J. Ginder, 78, of Manheim, passed peacefully to eternal life with Jesus Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center of Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Earl H. and Martha B. Helt Diehm. She was the wife of Ray G. Ginder with whom she would have celebrated 58 years of marriage May 21.

Marian was a member of Ruhl’s United Methodist Church in Manheim. Prior to retiring, she was employed for 27 years as a cafeteria worker at Stiegel Elementary School in the Manheim Central School District. After graduating from Manheim High School in 1952, she was employed for four years as a clerical worker by the former Raybestos company in Manheim. Marian enjoyed flower gardening, with lupines being her favorite variety of flower. She received her most pleasure from spending time with her family and attending the activities in which her grandchildren participated.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Susan D., wife of Jay A. Eberly; and Lori A., wife of B. Franklin Kreider, III, both of Manheim; five grandchildren: Heather A. Johnson, Bradley Ginder Eberly, Chad M. Eberly, Katelyn E. Kreider, and Blake A. Kreider; six great grandchildren; and a sister: Doris L., wife of Luke Fahnestock, of Manheim.

A funeral service was held May 13 at Ruhl’s United Methodist Church, Manheim, with Pastor Rob Timlin and Wayne Achey officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.

J. Donald "Whitey" Hertzler, 87, of Lititz, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care, Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center, Mount Joy.

Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Amand Hertzler. He was married to the late Betty L. Summers Hertzler and late Mary M. Weidler Hertzler.

He is survived by a daughter: Barbara J. (Gary S.) Hoffer, Ephrata; a son: Gary J. Hertzler, Fla.; four grandchildren: Christina (Rob) Glick, Sheryl (Mark) Rettew, Justin (Kristen) Hoffer, Shari (Kenneth) McWilliams; seven great-grandchildren: Tyler, Nicholas, Kyle, Natalie, Owen, Oliver, Israel; a brother: Benjamin (Gloria) Hertzler; and two sisters: Mary Jane (Chet) Schoenberger and Nancy (Pete) Denlinger. He was preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy Metzler.

Whitey was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific on the USS LST 556.

He worked as a heat and frost insulator for Owens Corning and Johns Manville. Whitey was an avid golfer enjoyed bowling, woodworking and going to breakfast with his friends. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and AMVETS.

Whitey’s life celebration gathering will be held at Barbara’s home, 1004 Henn Ave., Ephrata May 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. Private interment in Conestoga Memorial Park, Lancaster.

Peggy L. Groff

Peggy L. Groff, 68, of Lancaster, formerly of Manheim, Rothsville, and Akron, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster. Peggy was the wife of William L. Groff.

Born in Lancaster, Peggy was a daughter of the late Ernest and Alberta (Spohn) Ditzler. She was a member of the Worship Center in Lancaster and worked as a school bus driver for Raymond E. Groff, Inc. of Lititz.

In addition to her husband William, she is survived by three sons: Douglas L. Groff, husband of Tammy of Ephrata; Randy L. Groff, husband of Lesley of Ephrata; and William M. Groff, husband of Denette, of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother: Richard Ditzler, husband of Fern of Lititz; and a sister: Linda, wife of Henry F. Troup, Jr. of Manheim.

Peggy was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Leonhard.

Peggy will be lovingly missed by her husband, sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A viewing was held at the Worship Center May 19. Memorial services were held May 20 at the Worship Center with the Rev. Sam Smucker officiating.

Interment was private.

Ann M. Halloway, 93, of Lancaster, previously of Rothsville, passed away Monday, May 13, at Homestead Village in Lancaster. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Howard E. and Erma Nuttal Winward. Ann was the wife of the late Leslie E. Halloway, who passed away in 1995.

Ann graduated as valedictorian from Parkesburg High School in 1937. She entered military service in 1942 with the United States Army, Women’s Auxiliary Corps, stationed at Camp Crowder in Missouri.

Ann had worked for the West Chester Post Office, and then later with Watt and Shand as a sales clerk, until she retired in 1976. She was a former member of Rothsville United Methodist Church and the American Legion, Post #56 in Lititz.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Linda L., wife of John Marinari, Jr. of Millersville; her granddaughter: Melanie R., wife of Jeffrey Sturgis; her great-grandchildren: Destiny and Aiden Sturgis; and her nephew: Steve Winward. She was preceded in death by her brother: Elmer Winward, and her sister: Betty Jacobs.

Relatives and friends are respectfully attended her life celebration service at Fred F. Groff Inc., Lancaster, on May 17 with the Rev. Roseann M. Goldberg officiating. Interment was held at Glen Run Cemetery, Atglen.

James K. Hornberger

Sperry retiree, school custodian

James K. Hornberger, 73, formerly of Ephrata, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at Luther Acres, Lititz.

He was born in Reamstown to the late Ralph and Violet (Warner) Hornberger and was the husband of Thelma Mae (Sheaffer) Hornberger, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church, Ephrata. A member of the 1958 graduation class of Ephrata High School, James worked at Sperry New Holland, NA until his retirement after 33 years in 1996. He then worked as a custodian for the Ephrata School District until 2002. He was also member of Lincoln Seniors, Friendly Circle, Cloister Post #429 American Legion, and a life member of both the Ephrata Amvets Post #136 and the Cocalico Post #3376 V.F.W. A sports card dealer, he also enjoyed golfing, watching sports on television, wintering in Florida and going to the mountains.

Mr. Hornberger had served in the U.S. Navy, during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the USS Waller.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by a daughter: Lisa, wife of Shawn McEllhenney of Ephrata; two step sons: Donald Fox of Akron and James Fox of Lancaster; three step daughters: Susan, wife of Randy Buck of Denver; Carol, wife of Paul Reiner of Apollo; and Linda, wife of Dennis Martin of Ephrata; a sister: Joanne, wife of Ray Will of Tallahassee, Fla; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Clarence Hornberger.

A viewing was held on May 21, 2013, from at the Stradling Funeral Home, Ephrata. An additional viewing was held at the Hope United Methodist Church, Ephrata May 22 followed by funeral services with Rev. James L. Garner, Jr. and Rev. Paul Reiner officiating. Interment will take place in the Muddy Creek Cemetery. Military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.

James R. Johnson, Jr., 83, of Lititz, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz where he had been a resident for two months.

He was born in Columbia Aug. 21, 1929, and was the son of the late James R. and Dorothy Johnson. He was married to Joan Fasnacht Johnson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Elizabeth (Drew) Borowski, North Wales; Susan (Michael) Martin, Jenkintown; Jennifer (John) Horning, Charlotte, N.C.; and five grandchildren: James Friedberg, Amy Friedberg, Molly Martin, Zachary and Tyler Horning.

Jim was a 1947 graduate of the former Lititz High School and a 1951 graduate of Penn State University. He continued his education at the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, two of which were served in Air Intelligence at the Fifth Air Force in Nagoya, Japan.

Jim worked for two Philadelphia insurance companies, the former Insurance Co. of North America, now CIGNA and the former Provident Mutual Insurance Co., now Nationwide. Jim had many interests including travel, the ocean, trout fishing, Penn State football, photography, watching movies, was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his devoted family and his beloved Irish Setter, Zoey.

Nikolaus Kampen

Nikolaus Kampen, 73, Lititz, peacefully passed away into the arms of his Jesus Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his residence.

He was born in the Ukraine to the late Martin and Katharina (Regier) Kampen and was the husband of Edith (Zimmerman) Kampen with whom he shared 47 years of marriage.

Nikolaus was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church. During his working years, he was a finishing carpenter for Jerry Horst & Son. For many years he enjoyed playing volleyball and fishing.

In addition to his wife, Nikolaus is survived by his children: Rosanne, wife of Darryl Gingerich of AuGres, Mich.; Martin, husband of Kimberly (Wagner) Kampen of Lititz; Loren, husband of Brenda (Weaver) Kampen of Stevens; Katrina, wife of Ryan Schrock of Goshen, Ind.; Anthony, husband of Kimberly (Groff) Kampen of Denver; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a step mother: Helene Kampen; three brothers: Heinz, husband of Helene Kampen; Walter, husband of Dorothea Kampen; and Arthur, husband of Nadine Kampen, all of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; two sisters: Hilda Heinrichs; Renate, wife of Wolf Hein, both of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and a close cousin raised by the family: Hans, husband of Anna Kampen, also of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

A viewing was held May 20 at the Hammer Creek Mennonite Church, 590 Hammer Creek Road, Lititz followed by his funeral service with Pastor Fred Heller officiating. Interment took place in the Hammer Creek Mennonite Cemetery.

Ryan Michael Lefever, 34, of Lititz, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Larry and Jeanne Lefever of Lititz.

Ryan was a 1998 graduate of Warwick High School, and received his B.S. degree from Millersville University in 2005.

He was a member of Keiser Gun Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the Phillies, Eagles and NASCAR.

Ryan was employed as a customer service rep for Haller Enterprises, Lititz, last working on Friday.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter: Kendall, who was daddy’s little girl and the true love of his life; two sisters: Tiffanie Weiler (Chris) and Amy Haines (Michael), all of Lititz; maternal grandparents: Bernard and Jean Huxta of Lancaster; paternal grandfather: Lytle Lefever of Manheim; three nephews: Braidy, Gaibe and Drew Weiler; two nieces: Marley and Abbey Haines; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and Christine Wieniewski and her daughter Kailei Garman, both of Lititz. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother: Jean Lefever, and a nephew: Jack Haines.

A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. May 24 at St. James Catholic Church, 505 Woodcrest Ave., Lititz, PA 17543 with Father James O’Blaney C.Ss.R. as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will be private.

Kenneth L. Martin

Kenneth L. Martin, 64, of Lititz, died peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy with his wife by his side.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Erma (Shafer) Martin and the late Paul S. Martin. Ken was the loving husband of Anita (Kulp) Martin and they would have observed their 19th wedding anniversary in June of this year. Ken retired as an armored truck driver from Brinks Inc. Previously; he was employed at Luther Acres Retirement Community, Lititz and earlier served in the Warwick Township Police Department as sergeant and chief. A 1966 graduate of Ephrata Senior High School, he was a life-long hunter and fisherman, and a faithful and active member of the Brunnerville Hunting Camp in Potter County. He was also a life member of the National Rifle Association, the North American Hunting Club and a past member of the Ephrata Pioneer Fire Company.

Ken, affectionately known as "Pa Pa," was adored by his grandchildren and will be sadly missed by friends and family. His other interests included spending time with his family and friends at Buttonwood Beach, his boat known as "Hammerhead," working in his yard and flower gardens, watching NASCAR driver Mark Martin and rides in the truck with his beloved beagle dog Lucy.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother, are two daughters: Denise L. Martin of Glen Allen, Va., Joanne L., wife of Troy G. Bender of Ephrata; a son: Matthew A., husband of Jennifer (Hartl) Martin of Ephrata; a step son: T. Cody Strubel of Lititz; three grandchildren: Tyler Martin, Shelby Martin, Emily Bender; a sister: Bernice, wife of the Reverend Jerry Ruff of Mt. Sidney, Va., three brothers: Ronald "Chuck," husband of Carol Martin of Sicklerville, N.J.; Jay, husband of Deb Martin; and Ray, husband of Gale Martin all of Ephrata. Preceding him in death is a sister: Sandra Mantyla.

Relatives and friends attended his memorial service at the Buch Funeral Home May 18. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Sol Schwartz, 88, of Lititz, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Harry and Bessie Schwartz. He was married for 59 years to Marian Schwartz.

Sol worked in New York for the Postal Service as a letter carrier and for several banks in New York over the years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and subsequently volunteered for numerous Veterans events. A patient and very generous man, he loved his family dearly and was an avid N.Y. Yankees and N.Y. Giants fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Janice Shabtay of Lititz; Judy Cutrupi, wife of Vincent of Staten Island, N.Y.; a son: Richard, husband of Gail Schwartz of Staten Island, N.Y.; and five grandchildren: Brandon Cutrupi; Laura and Zack Schwartz; and Talia Bess and David Shabtay.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Myrtle B Snyder

Myrtle B. Snyder, 93, of Pleasant View Retirement Community, passed away May 14, 2013.

Born in Warwick Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Ritter Bushong. She shared 38 years of marriage with the late Guy S. Snyder, who passed away in 1995.

A 1937 graduate of Rothsville High School, Myrtle worked at Farmers First Bank in Lititz for 29 years prior to her retirement in 1984. She was a lifetime member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, formerly Reformed Church of Lititz, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, served on numerous committees and was a deacon. She volunteered for 20 years with Meals on Wheels in Lititz and in the Pleasant View gift shop. Myrtle loved her 12 nieces and nephews and their families, who were all very special to her.

She is survived by her brother: H. Ray Bushong, Manheim; sister: Mary Jane Hartman, Denver, Colo.; and sister-in-law: Alice Snyder, Lititz. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Samuel and Jacob Bushong.

Funeral services were held May 18 at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Lititz. Burial was in Old Zion Cemetery, Brickerville. David G. “Dave” Strayer

93, U.S. Army, former Camp Mack Ranger

David G. "Dave" Strayer, 93, went to be with his savior Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Audubon Villa.

He served in the U.S. Army from February 1942 until October 1945, in an intelligence and reconnaissance platoon of the 29th Infantry Regiment in Europe.

Dave was a member of Lititz United Methodist Church, the Lititz VFW and was a 56-year veteran of the Boy Scouts of America. He collected stamps and coins and enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dave retired from National Cash Register and the Boy Scouts of America as Camp Ranger of Camp Mack near Lititz.

He was preceded in death by siblings, William "Bill" Strayer, George "Bud" Strayer and Sara Ann Reaber.

Surviving are his wife of 69 years: Agnes deVink Strayer; children: Dawn Fay Morgan, John D. Strayer and Barry L. Strayer; sister: Amy Reid; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date.

Abram Harvey Frey

Abram Harvey Frey, 94, a lifelong resident of Elizabethtown, formerly of 339 N. Locust Street, passed away at Brethren Village Monday, May 20, 2013.

He was the son of the late Clayton R. and Esther Mae Stauffer Frey and the husband of the late Mabel Jennings Frey.

Harvey retired after 36 1/2 years from United Shoe Company as a Machinist and traveled the U.S. and Korea with his work. He also worked at Groff’s Meats in Elizabethtown from 1983-1992 and then fulfilled his passion for cars by working at the Manheim Auto Auction from 1992-2008. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific as a torpedo man.

He was a member of St Paul’s United Methodist Church for 65 years and was a member of the Wesley Friendship Sunday School Class. Harvey was also a Mason and a member of Blue Lodge 682 as well as Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and Harrisburg Consistory. Harvey loved buying new cars and was still actively driving his new Buick at age 94. He was also a runner until he turned 60 and then he became an avid walker, walking four miles daily, well into his 80′s.

Harvey is survived by a sister: Esther Hiller, of Brethren Village; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Clayton V. Frey, Sr. and I. Paul Frey; and two sisters: Floy I. Jones and Sara E. Borger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Harvey’s Life Celebration Service on his 95th birthday at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown, on June 6, with The Rev. Skip Davis officiating. The family will receive friends on June 6, 2013 from 10 to 11 a.m. with the service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery where Military Honors will be rendered by the Red Rose Honor Guard.

Alicia R. Krzak, 25, of Lititz, passed away unexpectedly at home Friday, May 24, 2013.

Born in Elmira, N.Y., she was the daughter of Lawrence and Debora Barden Krzak, Lubbock, Texas.

Alicia attended Warwick High School. She worked in mobile sales with AT&T, Lebanon, and Best Buy, Lancaster. She loved music, animals, watching the "Golden Girls" (and horror movies with her father and was an avid reader.

Besides her parents she is survived by her fiancé: Tony Mayo, Lititz; two sisters: Candice Krzak, Holtwood, Stephanie Krzak, Lititz; maternal grandmother: Patricia Barden; maternal grandfather: Fred Barden; paternal grandmother: Alfreda Krzak, all of Buffalo, N.Y.;two nephews; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a maternal grandmother: Virginia Barden; an uncle: Richard Barden; a cousin: Sean Laubacker; and an aunt: Judie Bartolotta.

Merville M. "Mert" Messick, 90, of Lancaster, formerly of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 24, 2013 at Brethren Village.

Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Jacob and Sarah (Long) Messick. He was the husband of the late Betty (Kaylor) Messick who died in 2010.

Mert was a member of Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. In 1953 he founded Messick Farm Equipment in Elizabethtown. He was a past president of the Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club and the Pennsylvania Dealers Association and served on the Board of Trustees of Brethren Village, Lancaster. Mert enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening and golf. From the time of retirement until age 90, he mowed all of the grass on the Messick Farm Equipment property. He also sang in the Brethren Village Chorus.

He is survived by two sons: Robert M., husband of Marie Messick and Kenneth L., husband of Marian Messick, both of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren: Scott (Christa) Messick, Bryan (Bonnie) Messick, Anita (Sean) Vanek, Neil (Kristin) Messick, Kevin (Janelle) Messick, and Lucas (Elizabeth) Messick; five great-grandchildren; siblings: Mahlon (Helen) Messick, Mildred Risser, Miriam Aldinger and Mylin (Doris) Messick.

He was preceded in death by siblings: Marie Myers, Marvin Messick, Miller Messick, Mattilee Dagen, Milferd Messick, Melvin Messick, Margaret Zell and Marlin Messick.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 South Mount Joy Street, Elizabethtown at 3 p.m. Viewing will be held on Wednesday evening also at the church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will be no viewing on Thursday, but the family will receive friends at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will be private.

73, Lititz born, Warwick grad

Ruth E. Musselman, 73, of Mechanicsburg, went home to be with her Savior Sunday, May 26, 2013 at the Harrisburg Hospital.

Born September 26, 1939 in Lititz, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Bertha (Frey) Eberly.

Ruth was a graduate of Warwick High School and retired as a legal secretary from the law offices of McNees, Wallace and Nurick located in Harrisburg. She was a member of Slate Hill Mennonite Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, participated with the kitchen committee and served as a former Secretary for the church board. Ruth enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, embroidery and loved singing, especially for the holiday church services.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 50 years: Eugene M. Musselman; two sons: Douglas L. Musselman and his wife Laura of New Cumberland, Richard E. Musselman and his wife Jennifer of Camp Hill; four grandchildren: Joshua, Ryan, Erik and Matthew; three brothers: John Eberly of Lititz, David and Lloyd Eberly both of Lancaster; three sisters: Bertie Shirk of Silverthorn, Colo., Roseanna Boll of Manheim, and Sharon Martin of Mill Hall.

Ruth was preceded in death by her brother: Irvin Eberly.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. May 31, 2013 at Slate Hill Mennonite Church, Camp Hill. Viewings will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. May 30 and from 10 to 11 AM May 31 at the church. Burial will be held privately in Slate Hill Cemetery.

Marylou L. Paxton, 84, of Lebanon, died May 19, 2013 in the United Zion Retirement Community, Lititz.

She was the wife of the late Melvin L. Paxton.

She was born in Millcreek Twp. on Oct.17, 1928, daughter of the late Sylvester J. and Bessie Stein Hollinger.

She retired from the former Manhattan Raybestos Co. in Lancaster. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Cornwall. Marylou was a member of Schaefferstown Fire Co. Aux., Schaefferstown Historical Society, Friendship Fire Co., AACA, Hershey Region AACA, PA Dutch Region AACA, AARP, Hudson-Essex Terraplane Club, Hudson-Essex Terraplane PA Dutch Region, Williams Grove Steam Engine Assoc., 123 Club of Manhattan Raybestos and the Lebanon County Flower Club.

She is survived by her granddaughter: Christina Andrews and lifetime partner Candice Weber, Myerstown; great-granddaughters: Caitlyn and Charlotte; niece: Tabitha Lantz wife of Dennis Mumma. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Melvia "Suzy" Andrews; son-in-law: John Andrews; sister-in-law: Myrtle Paxton Lantz; nephew: Michael Lantz.

A viewing will be held May 30 from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 2596 Cornwall Rd., Cornwall. Interment will be made in Holy Savior Cemetery. Carolyn J. Racine, 68, of Lititz, formerly of Columbia and Lancaster, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness.

91, Luther Acres resident, enjoyed travel

Verna J. Rathvon, 91, passed away peacefully May, 23, 2013 at Luther Acres.

She was the wife of the late Elwood Rathvon, who died Feb. 10, 1990. They were married 50 years. Born in Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late William and Rebecca Bradley.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and worked at Hamilton Watch Co., the Bearings Co., Specialty Screw and Electronic Test as an inspector. She enjoyed her family, antiquing, traveling, and recently, Bingo.

Verna is survived by her two children: Barry W. Rathvon, York, and Barbara Rathvon Hanna, wife of Richard M. Hanna, Mountville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces; nephews; and a brother: William Bradley of Lancaster.

Services were held May 28 at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery, with the Rev. David Kreider officiating.
